Radiator Valves: How To Know Exactly What to Buy

You've chosen a radiator. You now need to choose the radiator valves that you will require. This begs the question: Why don't radiators come with valves?

There's a good reason your radiator doesn’t come with a pair of valves. This guide will help you understand the differences and choose the correct radiator valves.

Why don't Radiators Come with Valves?

Because it is better for you to have valves than not, radiators don't come equipped with valves. Because your pipework and taste in interior decoration are different, you will need to select the radiator valves that best suit your needs. You can choose which radiator valves match your room, pipework angle, and decor.

What is a radiator valve?

Radiator valves regulate temperature and are always sold in pairs. The one adjusts the temperature by changing the water level in the radiator. The other adjusts the heat output of the radiator.

They are, in essence, little taps that you place on your radiator. These taps can be referred to either as thermostatic or manual.

Thermostatic and Manual Valves: What's the difference?

Manual Radiator Valves Explained

This valve is one of the most simple to use. Twist the top with your hands, and it will alter the flow of heat to your radiator. It works just like turning on a tap.

They are usually simpler and smaller than thermostatic valves.
